What Way To Point The Telescope!!!!

I am really confused on which direction to point the telescope after it is polar aligned. I want to be able to find different stars and such. What direction would I set the telescope facing to use the numbers on the Equatorial Mount. Like if I want to see Orion Nebula (M42) what direction would I face the scope and then align the RA and DEC. Thank You!!!
