Always love hearing first light stories from the proud owner of a new Telescope. Of course 1 day of cloudy weather per inch of aperture is the usual for the purchase of a new scope. Some even say one week per inch! You shopuld get a nice look at all 110 Messier objects and more with a 6" aperture. Take a look at the beautiful double star Gamma Andromeda next time out. Wonderful orange and blue componants seperated by 9 seconds of arc. You can find it on any chart. It's the forth star in the big arch of Andromeda. Also don't miss the Double Cluster in Perseus and of course the Andormeda Galaxy M31. Have fun.
