I am new at astronomy and am wondering how do I tell when the planets are in focus. (I know this is a dumb question) I have a 6 inch reflector ( an old edmunds) and a new 4.5 inch Orion dob, which i brought for my 6 year old . I notice when i focus it i can see a aura around the object and my spider veins is this when it is in focus ??? does anyone know of any sites where it actually shows what an object looks like thru the scope and not a doctored image or one that is time lapse??? thnks for any info.
