I think you have Alpha Centauri, a binary star, with a third star, Centauri C or Proxima orbiting them, confused with Andromeda Galaxy. I know for a fact that Andromeda (the Milky Way's twin, although about 50% larger--2 billion stars) is absorbing a nearby smaller galaxy. It is not an unusual circumstance. Take some more astronomy courses, and read Isaac Asimov's non-fiction. Also a very recent newspaper article by two astronomers says that binary star systems can have planets orbiting them, in fact, some have already been found. This is mid-October.
