Galaxies, Fast Or Long Newt?

Still in the planning stages on my first scope. I imagine I will spend more time on the planets, moon and hopefully galaxies. Nebula just doesn't grab me like the other targets. With this in mind, should I stick with a f/6 or something longer? Or shorter?
