The International Star Registry is company that claims to name stars after people for a fee. Actually they are not representitives of any Astrnomical body. It's just a novilty item similar to a cabage patch doll or pet rock. They get away with it because there's no law aginst renaming something. Believe me, no scientist or astronomer will ever be refering to a star as Judy Smith, or Tommy Boy, or Eddie the Freak. They used to sell you the star, but they did get in trouble for that because you can't sell something you don't own. There have been many articles in the Astronomy magizines about this company. They don't advertise in them, guess why. Why don't you buy them a nice pair of binoculars to look at the stars with or maybe a nice piece of jewlery with stars on it. Maybe even a beginner astronomy book to learn about the stars or if they are already into it, there are dozens of books about astronomy they would love. Get them something that makes sence, not just a piece of paper. There are beautiful posters of Hubble pictures and stuff. Get a copy of Astronomy or Sky and Telescope magazine you'll find lots of stuff for any level astronomer there. Good Luck.
