Spiral Structure?

Larry, although you will be able to observe many galaxies with an 8" scope I would disagree that you could interpret the images as spiral in nature. I would be very sceptical of descriptions of M51 that refer to it's 'spiral' structure in apertures of 8". There is a huge difference in knowing how an object should look and what can actually be seen.
