Space Travel Faster Than Life

no that was not a type-o. Since everyone I have
talked to assures me we will never travel at or beyond light speed and that blackholes can be used
as cosmic short cuts. Does anyone have any ideas
on how we can get anywhere from here. I sort of wonder now days how long this kind of space travel
would take if we just travel really close to the
speed of light . Anyway I just want to be Captain
Kirk and please don't anybody say we can travel to
far away planet by going into warp drive. Please
at least give me an idea for delvoping something
like warp-drive, and or ships that with stand the
stresses that travel in outer would generate.
Also any body have any good ideas for artificial
gravity or psuedo-gravity.
