Light travels at 186000 miles a second. Under Einstiens(I know that is spelled wrong!) famous theory E=mc2, where E=energy,m=mass and c is the velocity of light. As an object approaches the speed of light the mass tends to infinity. The answer being that no matter can exeed the speed of light. There are some interesting things going on in physics today that are challenging his bedrock principles.
