I also have a 10" Starfinder. I recently discovered a very simple solution to the very problem you described. I replaced the threaded ring studs with post-type, adjustable draw latches. I simply pop riveted them to the rings and then when I want to rotate the OTA, I simply drop the latches open, rotate it and then close the latches.
