Sure, I get the issue with eyes vs film, but without having a chance to look through a bigger scope, I don't know what to expect. I hear (read) people mentioning the red spot and gaps between rings, so I'm guessing that I don't need film to see them. Do you know if either Orion (or any brand) of 8" or 10" reflector will do that? With the 4.5" I don't think my inability to see these features is entirely due to lack of light gathering. The view of the planet is so small, that the features are invisible, and increasing the magnification just increases the fuzziness. Perhaps I just need better optics.
