Dear All

I am new to all of this.... here goes.

1. I have a Nikon Coolpix 990 digital camera and wish to enquire about getting a lens that can be used as a telephoto lens for this camera as well as use as a telescope. What would I need to attach a lens to this camera? A limit of about $400 (US) is all I can afford. I also have the 2X Nikon lens. What would you recommend as a reasonable telescope/telephoto lens? Would it be simply a waste of time with the $400 limit?

2. I also have a laptop computer that could be used as a lens control device for motorised units (USB or serial port). I would also like to enquire about whether tracking software would work if I were in another location somewhere in the southern hemispere. What motorised unit and what software would you recommend?

Any information that you may have to allow me to take a decision on what is required would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Michael JS
