In the Intro to Battlefield Earth, L. Ron Hubbard wrote about a meeting that he had with Robert Heinlein in 1945. The agenda of the meeting was how to get a man into space fast enough so that man would be distracted from further wars on earth! This amazing meeting attended by top writers set out a rather fantastic strategy, but when you look at history, they pulled it off!

It appears that the Science Fiction writers, and most notably amongst them was L.Ron Hubbard, had the ability to set the pace for the rest of society. Look at the things that have become commonplace in our culture and you’ll see that many of these began as a science fiction dream,

I invite you to review the Intro (read the whole book, it is truly an epic work) to Battlefield Earth for yourself. It sheds some amazing light on the subject of the development of the future.
