Small body meteors can skim the atmosphere for up to 30 seconds or even longer before burning up completely. Depending on the size of the meteor itself determines its` length of burn out. Baseball size meteors can take several seconds to completely burn, and depending on its` composition can burn from a bright white to a greenish/blue color. Slower, denser iron type meteors can burn a whitish/red also. Meteors can and will leave vapor trails. Some iridium satellites could be dropping here and there and they too produce a bright light. Then again it could be something else.
