Planetary Sidereal Rates

I am brand new to astronomy. I have a LX50 Meade telescope. In the manual it tells me how to adjust sidereal rates by .5% increments. Could someone tell me about how much I need to adjust for the planets? and should it be + or -? I would really appreciate your help. Thanks, Dean
