Please Advise On Counterweights.

I have an 8" LX200 SCT, and have just purchased a 2" mirror diagonal and the Televue 31mmT5 eyepiece. I had no idea it would be so heavy. Do I need a counterweight system to balance my scope? If I don`t, will it damage my drive? Thanks!
