Advice On Scope Purchase

I`ve narrowed by scope purchase down to two sizes... my problem is that each has a different f ratio.

One is a 5" Newtonian f/8 and the other a 6" f/5.

I know the larger size means more light, which means brighter images but my concern is with the short f/5 ratio.

Which is more important.... going with the smaller scope with larger f ratio.... or larger scope with smaller f ratio?

Is the 1" is size difference really all that important or am I splitting hairs?

Mike.
