Ah....you need Polar alignment. You first need to Polar align the mount. Polaris is the North Star and that is where you need to start. I hope you have charts. North Star is in Ursa Minor (Little Dipper). If you look at a chart at what little dipper is you`ll notice that the tip of the handle is Polaris. Once you know where Polaris is then you can begin alignment.
The explaination of this technique is somewhat complex and wouldn`t be fair to you if I tried to do it here. So this is what you can do. Go to a search engine like Excite.com and in the search window type: polar+alignment

You will get dozens of hits on the subject. They can show you how to polar align and adjust the setting circles of your EQ mount whereas you can find objects in the sky by coordinates. It will take some time but this is how most folks learn. Good luck!!
