Somewhat. Depends on what you are using it for. Any refractor with a long focal length is desireble. Of course short tubes can be used for wildlife viewing or stars, most seasoned scopers use the 80mm as guide scopes or finders; exception is perhaps a Televue 80mm APO (too expensive). Using a 80mm/400 (f/5) is a fast focus, so I would use at least a Plossl EP with 52 degree field. I have used these type scopes before and that type setup is quite adaquate for me concerning feild of view. But that`s me though. But it`s good that you are shopping and asking questions.
