In my opinion only, we are still at the "1st level" of known physics. Until one day we "punch" through this barrier into the 2nd level we are "chained" to certain fact and theories. In the recent news concerning accelerated light speed experiments, we may have started knocking on the door of the next level whereas theory will be fact and new theories will prelude to the next level. Until then, we are restricted to plain old rocket ships. Of course there are possibilities of other conventional propulsion.
