: Does anyone know what the weight capacity of the Meade LXD-500 mount is? Will it support a 9.25 inch Celestron. And how good is the 1702 dual axis add on drive?

I HAVE A MEADE 8" SCT ON MINE IT SEEMS TO HOLD THE WEIGHT OK IF CAREFULLY BALANCED. THE DRIVE IS GARBAGE. THE MOTORS HAVE SEVERE BACKLASH WICH CAN'T BE REMOVED. COUPLED WITH THE LASH IN THE MOUNT, IT TAKES 15-20 SEC TO REMOVE. THE DRIVE ALSO LACKS POWER. I USUALY HAVE TO REDUCE CONTROL SPEED TO GET ANY MOVEMENT.
