It sound like you are going through the same thing I was a short time ago.As far as the Ultraview 10x50 you have made a wise choice.I purchased the exact same and used them to help get myself acquainted with the night sky.Pretty impressed by them but found even though they are light they work best when mounted to a tripod.I recommend you purchase the tripod adapter.As far as the 6"EQ,I also would recommend that maybe you consider the dobsonian mount for your 1st scope.For the price difference you could get the Skyquest XT-8 and believe me those 2" DO make a difference.Good luck and enjoy whatever your decision
