I own a per P.E.C. Celestron Ultma 8. The optical quality is excelent. I use it for long exposures and the tracking is great if you are perfectly polar aligned, if you are looking at a new model it probably has P.E.C. which will be even better for tracking. I'm not sure about the new models but mine does not have "goto"capabilities but I do have after market digital setting circles which are just about as good but you have to manually move the scope. Overall I think it is a excellent telescope and I Love mine. Clear skies, Starman :>) : I am looking for feedback on the celestron 8" : ultima - its ease of use, "goto" capabilities, : optical quality and tracking ability for long : exposure photography. On paper, it seems comparable : to Meade's 8" LX200 but is much lighter.
