Thank you for a quick answer. What I'm trying to do is to get the optical axis exactly parallel to the axis of the mount so that when I point the scope at a "fixed point" say polaris and I rotate the scope around the RA axis, polaris stays at the middle of the eyepiece instead of making a circle. Now half of that I can do by adjusting the declination axis to exactly 90 degrees,but the forkarms can also cause the tube to be ever so slightly of parallel. The forkarms are slightly adjustable though. So I was looking for a practical method to do this, since they would have to be very slight adjustments. Hopefully this makes the question clear.

: I'm not sure that I understand your question however I own a ultama 8 and if the problem is that the dec. control is all the way to one end of the threads just leave the dec. lock loose and turn the knob until it is centered on the threads. : The dec. alignment to the earth is adjusted on the wedge per your latitude.
