Both scopes are comparable. Parabolic mirror is desirable in most cases. The Orion scope has a faster focus (f/5) to accommadate a shorter tube for their EQ mount. Does it have to be a EQ mounted scope? Could get a 8" Dobsonian. The Celestron & Orion are both good scopes, but you may want to check Meade dealers. All of their EQ & Dobsonian scopes have dropped in price considerbly. Also Sky & Telescope magazine rated Orions SkyQuest 8" Dob over the other major brands. Just something to consider.
