I have been told that prism diagonals "traps" light better than your more conventional glass, and can better direct. Funny thing is, is that I was thinking about trying one of those. There is a company that uses quartz instead of Pyrex. I am not that savvy on prism design except what I've read. Robert May in the Telescope forum could possibly answer better than me. When it comes to mirrors and such, he knows his stuff. Look at this place here. They have quartz diagonals
