Coming from experience, I hated the 3X Barlow. Performance was very poor. Getting a good focus at high magnifacation was near impossible. Once you go over the magnified threshold, you lose resolution and detail. With a quality 2X Barlow with a decent 16 or 17mm eyepiece minimum I have been very happy. I look at only the moon with an eyepiece as low as a 9mm. Try putting a 9mm on a 3X Barlow....it's a bitch! I know. With a Barlow and a 26mm & 17mm you'll have 4 eyepieces. 26,17,13,8.5. Why get more? Well maybe a 32mm or 40mm Nagler..... Stick with a 2X Barlow. I'm sure there are folks who have used 3X Barlows with some degree of success, but for me, there is no use.
