The drive system on the scope you mentioned is pretty basic. Also the floor models are always a little beat up. Get one freash from the box. I am not sure if the autostar is compatible, I don't think so, but I won't bet on it either. The Meade 4.5" reflector (114EQ) is a good scope. It is primarily for beginners anyway. The other model you are speaking of is probably the DS model. The Autostar can come with it and they are retailing at about $350. If you can only afford the DH model, then get it. If you get a new box, open it up before you buy if you can. I'm sure it will be OK. Good Luck!!
