: I was wondering if anyone could give some advice as to which of these scopes is optically superior. I am contemplating buying either one but would like to know what people think.

I bought a Meade 7" Mak. The optics are very good. Never looked through a Televue 101 but have heard it's optics are also very good. The real issue is portability: the Mak is NOT a portable scope! It's very heavy and it will definitely make you think twice about doing some "work" at night. That's why I bought a Vixen 102FL with a GP mount(about the same price) It gets alot more use.(I wonder why?!?!) Hope this helps.
