Not necessarily, either brand can have good, better or best. I own a 8" Celestron and have found it's optics to be excellent, I have looked through a 8" Meade before and could tell no difference and I have looked through a 10" Meade and it couldn't hold a candle to my 8" but it could have been just mirror alignment. Both companys gurantee their optics and will exchange any that are faulty. Good luck and clear skies. Starman :>) : Is it true tha the optic of Celestron is a little bit better than the optic of meade? I'm referring in particular to 8" telescopes. : Thankyou for your opinion.
