I'm gonna try to see the shower. It should be awesome! Try looking at the moon through a telescope during the peak. You might see some Leonids impact the lunar surface on the dark side of the terminator. Since the moon has no atmosphere, you'd see little blips of light when they impact, rather than burn up.
