Hello, I have a meade ds 114 model and it sounds like you need some lower power eyepieces. I dont know if this is a 4.5 in reflector like mine, but if so, you should be able to see a lot. A high power eyepiece like a 4mm is almost useless with this type of telescope. Try not to dip below 8mm. Right now, I have a 32, 26, 17, 9, with a 2x barlow(which multiplies the power by 2(your case with a 3x multiplies by 3), therefore doubling the number of eyepieces you have. Buy a lower power eyepiece,like a 26mm plossl, and use your barlow to get a closer look. I am sure Kip will add a lot of info. Hope this helps, T.J. |
