Your problem is very simple. Your eyepiece is too small. I mean 4mm is really only good for larger scopes and planetary viewing. I bet if you use that same eyepiece and point at Jupiter you'll see it, but it will be very diffulcult to stay on it. You need a 25 or 26mm for starters. It should be a 1.25 barrel (eyepiece diameter). DO NOT use the barlow with the 4mm. You won't see a thing. The field of view on a 4mm is so small it is basically worthless. The barlow increases the power on the eyepiece by 2 or 3 since you have a 3x. Get a 26mm and maybe a 17mm too. With the 26mm, you'll see things then. Have fun!!
