The center of the galaxy (Milky Way) is roughly in the Sagittarius constellation. The star Antares is a good guide for the center. Unfortunatly Sagittarius is setting earlier now. You can see it in the early evening. By 10pm PST it is basically gone. The best time to see Safittarius is May & June. Go see this months Sky & Telescope magizine. There is an artical on a panoramic view (actual pics) of the Milky Way. Pretty cool...Check it out!
