: I will be in Phoenix for a week and then to Soa Paulo Brazil for a week on business. I have never been south of the equator and I am new to the astronomy hobby. I will be bringing my 7X50's along an hope to find some dark sky. Are there any special objects of interest in the southern hemisphere that I should try to locate? Any suggestions?

: Thanks for your help...Harold

2 of my favorites are the large and small megallanic clouds(our sister galaxies) Binocs will be just fine with these as they are obvious even to the naked eye. Having once lived in Australia, I sure miss all the great southern sights.
