I too am planning to build an observatory on some property recently purchased. I contacted the editors at astronomy Magazine regarding some the past articles they ahve printed. there is an old publication called how to build your own observatory unfortunately it is noe out of print, however I I paid $60 for a photocopy of the 20 article it contains. each article contains instructions on how to build a different observatory, from domes to roll-off roofs to split rolloffs.
