Dave, I have a similar dilemma. I have been thinking of building a Dob but am lured by the autotracking. It seems to me that keeping a Dob centered on moving targets, particularly planets, would be frustrating! I have been starhopping with my 7X50 binoculars and enjoy the hunt. This has been a great way to learn the sky.
