: Please help, I have just purchased a Tasco telescope : and I am a bit concered about the right accention part, the dial moves by hand seperate to the cogs, is this right, I thought that it was like the declination dial which is independant to the movement, if this is correct how do I set it up so that I can locate a star in the sky by using it,

: Any help for a beginner is appreciated, if only to say wally ofcourse its ment to move.

: Gary : PS please email responce as I do not get online very often to return here

The R.A. setting circle is ment to move seperate from the telescope. When you are set up and polar aligned find a star that you know the corrdinates of and set that setting on the dec. setting circle and also on the moveable R.A. setting circle so you will have a starting point to go from.
