Buy very good eyepieces and barlows only. I've
seen many people (me too) buy high power eyepieces
and then find them difficult to use. The fine
eyepieces tend to be pricy. Check out the
Lanthanums sold by Orion. They have good eye
relief and fields (about $100). A 25mm and a
5 to 8mm would make a good set. The Televue
powermates (2x or 5x) are terrific and expensive.
The University orthoscopics are very good ($60).
The short focal length eyepieces orthos do have
poor eye relief. Here is a suggestion get a
University Optics 25mm Ortho and a Televue
5X powermate ($180) and you'll have both low
and high power with very good clarity though those
Orthos don't have very wide fields.
