It is quite possible the .965 eyepieces perform just as well as other diameters such as 1.25 and 2.00 inch. However, I think you will find a much larger selection to choose from in the 1.25 inch category. This may result in happier viewing for you as you have a better chance in selecting that "just right" eyepiece for your viewing habits.

Of course any practical observing session may require the use of several different eyepieces.

If it were me, I would go with the 1.25 inch and add to the assortment from other vendors such as Tel-Vue.

If you want real hands on information, find a local astronomy club and go out with them one night. Members are usually eager to share their experience with their equipment.
