Anthony, your ability to find celestial objects is easily solved with good star charts and the finder on your scope. You will very rapidly come to know the sky. This is vastly better than going computer and seeing things but not knowing where they are. As to future astrophotography, an equatorial platform will give you the drive capability. High power eyeball observing is also a lot easier when the object stays in the field of view without your having to man-handle the scope. Lastly, you get the best of all possible worlds, a DOB and an equatorial mount. By the way, you can easily add computer capability to the DOB.
