How about the idea that was in S&T a few months back- using an old camera 2x adapter? What about the quality there, since camera lenses are typically much faster than telescopes optics. BTW, I tried it, and am satisfied with results, but to be totally honest, I have been away from astronomy so long that I can`t compare with modern day eyepieces, etc.
