Ayup! I think its this:

Light gathering:

Area of scope app / Area of eye

3600 / 64 = 56.25

So the scope will have 56 times more gatering power than your eye (which isnt that great!)

Scope visable mag:

Area of app = D
Magnitude = M

M = 2 + 5 log10 D

M = 2 + 5 * 1.78

M = 10.9 (or 11 am not to sure!)

So the scope can see stars of a magnitude as low as 11, but im not sure about this?!?
