Is the 4mm EP you're using for planetary viewing one of the ones that came with the scope? I never had much luck with my Tasco 4mm EP, but I think it was a combo of collmination and poor quality EP. With regards to collminating your scope, it shouldn't need it, but as I mentioned earlier, I think mine came out of wack either from the factory, or perhaps got bumped during shipment. I think if I were you, I'd at least check it. I've seen some web sites that give you hints, tips, and tricks for collminating. If I weren't buying a new scope, I'd re-do my Tasco, and get a couple of decent EP's for it as well.
