A zoom eyepiece will not compare in performance to any of the quality fixed focal length eyepieces whether it be a Plossle, Orthoscopic or any of the more expensive types. They all suffer from a narrow field of view and most will have focus shift problems as you zoom. In addition eyerelief may also be a problem. I do have one which I use on occasion only because it's convenient to find an object at low power and then be able to increase the power with out changing the eyepiece but it doesn't compare to any of my other eyepieces.
