Zoom Eye Pieces

Does anyone have input regarding using zoom lenses vs non zoom lenses? What (If any) is lost by using a zoom lens? I am on a waiting list to purchase the new Meade 12" LX200 GPS telescope, and am wondering how I should go about setting up my eye piece collection. How would the Meade (Or what ever zoom eye piece you are using) 4000 8mm to 24mm zoom lense set at 15mm compare with say the Meade 4000 Super Plossl 15mm eye piece? And or how would it compare with the super wide and ultra wide angle eye pieces? Or any other eye piece at equal focal length? Any thoughts on this topic?

Thank you,

Robert Koenig
