You don't say if you have a operating manual. If not you should be able to down load one from Meade.

With the telescope set up point it at a fixed object and align the pointer.

In reference to the mount, the telescope should be pointed forward. Move the telescope mount tripod and all until and adjust the mount until the tube and finder are point towards Polaris.

As this is the equatorial model it should require this before doing a one or two star alignment.

This is by no means complete but it should get you started.
