In the next ten minutes: at eight minutes those on earth would find out about it. (it takes about eight minutes for the electromagnetic, photonic, and other sub atomic particular/waveform radiation to reach earth. It would get dark. the moon would stop shining, and the only light (beside artificial light created by man) would come from the stars and the light reflecting from distant planets. After that, Mars, the asteroids between Mars and Jupiter, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus and Pluto would stop reflecting light and they would "go out" in that order though it would take some time for the last light from the sun to reach those planets and then reflect back to earth.
After that and over the next few days and weeks
The earth would begin to cool, the oceans would freeze, then the atmosphere would freeze into liquid air, which is why the human and other species would die.
