How Can I Stabilize My Mount?

I bought a Meade 6" LXD55 Refractor with a German Equatorial mount not too long ago, and a problem that I'm running into is the fact that the mount is pretty unstable. Nothing worse than trying to look at Mars and having the image dancing back and forth when you're looking at it, which also makes focusing a bit of a challenge!

So I was wondering if there are any easy ways that I can stabilize my mount without having to spend alot of $$$?

I got my first good looks at Mars recently, and I've got to admit, I think I made a great choice getting into astronomy, Mars looked great the other night. Polar caps, Syrtis Major, etc! I can't wait to get my first looks at Saturn & Jupiter...

Thanks in advance!
