My roll off-roof design is 8ftx10ft and houses a Meade starfinder 16in and cost only $1000. to build, unlike domes which(just for the dome cost $3000.) unless you buy a farm silko dome and convert it into an astronomy dome, but this still will cost you $1500. Other than the look of a dome, I don't see the advantage to having one. I would rather build the roll off observatory and take the extra money and invest in some new equiment, eyepieces, filters, ccd, etc.
